June 9-10 (Fri, Sat), CANOE TRIPPING Paddler. Do you enjoy canoe day trips but hope to try some multi-day trips, such as doing the world-famous Bowren Lake circuit ? Or have you already done some overnight or longer canoe trips but would like to enhance your skills and knowledge? Then this course may be for you. It will involve one night and two days and will cover essentials of wilderness canoe tripping. There will also be one prior evening (TBA) of planning and pre-trip training prior to the actual trip. You will need to bring your own camping gear, a camp stove, and food, plus a canoe and gear. If you don’t have a canoe, one possibility is Middleton Boats (North Vancouver), 604-240-0503. Don also has a few boats that he can rent—on a first come first served basis. Since part of the course involves getting wet, a wet suit will be valuable since the water will still be cold for swimming. A prerequisite: Basic Tandem Paddler certification from RCABC. For participants who don’t have this prerequisite, Don is willing to set aside a day—or two partial days— (prior to the Tripping course) to accomplish this. Thursday, June 15, 2023
