Learn to Canoe in Beautiful British Columbia!
Canoeing in British Columbia offers many amazing opportunities and many demanding challenges due to the rugged and diverse nature of our landscape.
From the exquisite mountain lakes of the Cariboo's Bowron Lakes Chain to the surging waters of the Pacific’s Broken Islands, or the rushing current of the Kootenay River, there is a little something for everyone in BC.
These rewards come with risks though. Proper risk management, equipment, and paddling technique make all the difference between a fun and challenging vacation and a harrowing misadventure.
Adventure, Challenge, and Responsibility on BC Waters
British Columbia offers a wide range of canoeing environments, from calm lakes and scenic tours to moving water, coastal paddling, and wilderness trips. Learning to canoe here means building skills that match the real conditions paddlers face across the province.
Most people can paddle a canoe in a sheltered bay on a calm day without much skill or training. But if you want to learn to safely challenge large mountain lakes, surging ocean tides, and cold continuous rivers of the West Coast you will definitely need to know what you are doing!
Why Training Matters
The beauty of paddling in BC comes with real risks. Weather, wind, current, cold water, remoteness, and changing conditions can quickly turn a simple outing into a serious situation.
Proper training, good judgement, the right equipment, and strong paddling technique can help you canoe more safely and with greater confidence.
We are here to share our knowledge and skills with you so you can safely, skillfully, and confidently navigate the waters of beautiful British Columbia and beyond.
